Blue Gray 100 Count Cotton Dhakai Jamdani Saree
This exquisite Jamdani sari is a beautiful example of the UNESCO Intangible Heritage awarded technique that is Jamdani. An exclusive cotton Dhakai Jamdani saree handwoven by an award winning weaver in Sonargaon, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Traditional floral patterns on the aanchol and paar border. Tabij butis adorn the body of the saree all over in a soothing blue. There is a dramatic pop of pink in the floral design of the border and aanchol.
Since the defining aspect of this textile are its rich motifs, all intricately added by hand, Jamdani is touted as one of the most advanced hand weaving techniques in the world.
Each motif has to be inlaid into the fabric by adding denser threads to fine warp threads. This process is so time- and labor -intensive that it takes about 8-12 weeks for two weavers to produce a saree of an intricate pattern.
Dhakai Jamdani prices are related to the thread quality used .Most exclusive cotton sarees are woven in 80-100 count threads which result in a very fine quality , light weight and exclusive heritage Dhakai Jamdani saree.
