This exquisite Jamdani sari is a beautiful example of the UNESCO Intangible Heritage awarded technique that is Jamdani. An exclusive cotton Dhakai Jamdani saree handwoven by an award winning weaver in Sonargaon, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Traditional floral patterns adorn this stunning 200 count yellow "sandesh phul" floral pattern with in the body with "supari tengi phul" on the anchol. It is furthur enhanced with a Belgium paar border. Delicate and intricate Jamdani thread work with hints of gold jari.
Since the defining aspect of this textile are its rich motifs, all intricately added by hand, Jamdani is touted as one of the most advanced hand weaving techniques in the world.
Each motif has to be inlaid into the fabric by adding denser threads to fine warp threads. This process is so time- and labor -intensive that it takes about 8-12 weeks for two weavers to produce a saree of an intricate pattern.
Dhakai Jamdani prices are related to the thread quality used .Most exclusive cotton sarees are woven in 80-100 count threads which result in a very fine quality , light weight and exclusive Dhakai Jamdani saree.
